Kit at KWMC’s Making Space

Our Making Space offers an extensive range of fabrication equipment available for hire.

This industry-leading kit can be used by people who have joined our membership programme. It is also used in our programmes and commissions service. We’re always expanding our collection with new tools and technology to ensure you have access to the best resources for your creative projects.

Becoming a Making Space Member is your first step to using this equipment independently. Membership is open to anyone over 18 with a passion for making and creating! Find out more here.

If you’re already a Member, you’re just a few steps away from unlocking our kit. Inductions are required for each piece of equipment and cost £20 per item. Explore the pricing for individual items in the list below and start planning your next project.

Equipment List and Hire Costs

UV Printer: Roland Versa LEF 2-200

Function: Prints in full color on a variety of flat surfaces (card, plastics, metals, fabric, wood).

Features:

  • Bed size: 50.8cm x 33cm.
  • Max object height: 100mm; max weight: 5kg.
  • Results vary by material; allow time for testing.

Hire cost: £20 per hour (includes cost of ink).

Laser Cutter: Trotec Speedy 400 – 120W CO2

Function: Cuts materials from digital designs using a laser beam.

Features:

  • Includes a camera function for precision. 
  • Materials: Ply, acrylic, fabric, rubber stamps, cardboard, etc.
  • Max cutting area: 1004mm x 610mm; max material thickness: 15mm (6mm+ requires lens change by a technician). 

Hire cost: £32 per hour. 

Brother Entrepreneur 6-Plus (Digital Embroidery Machine)

Function: Embroiders fabrics from vector designs.

Features:

  • Runs designs with up to six colors without requiring a thread change.
  • Arm design allows embroidery directly onto t-shirts, sleeves, bags, jackets, and caps.
  • Suitable for production runs with robust, reliable performance.

Hire Cost: £16 per hour (thread included for small batches or experiments; consult a technician for large runs).

Brother Innov-is V3 (Digital Embroidery Machine)

Function: Embroiders fabric from digital designs (single-thread machine).

Features:

Embroidery hoop sizes:

  • Large: 300mm x 130mm. 
  • Medium: 180mm x 130mm. 
  • Small: 100mm x 100mm. 
  • Extra Small: 60mm x 20mm. 

Hire cost: £8 per hour (includes standard satin threads and basic interfacing material; thread colours vary). 

Vinyl Cutter: Roland DG CAMM-1 GS-24

Function: Cuts vinyl stickers or heat press designs for fabric application.

Features: Cutting sizes:

  • Width: 50–700mm. 
  • Length: 25,000mm. 

Hire cost: £5 per hour. 

Fabric Heat Press: Xpres Adkins – Swing Heat Press

Function: Applies fabric transfer dyes, flock, or heat press vinyl onto fabric.

Features:

  • Bed size: 38.1cm x 50.8cm. 

Hire cost: £10 per hour.

CR Clarke R25 Granulator

Function: Processes waste plastic material into granulate.

Features:

  • Shreds hard plastics like acrylic and polypropylene.
  • Granulate size controlled via interchangeable meshes.

Hire Cost: £10 per hour.
