Maker City: Schools

Coming to the factory gives the young people an experience that they would never
have otherwise. We do have a laser cutter at school, but none of the young people
get to actually use it or choose materials and it’s only a small percentage of young
people that are actually allowed to do it. It’s been a brilliant experience for all of
them, I can’t believe how focused they’ve been on their projects and how committed they’ve been. I really hope we can do something like this again.

– Teacher

I’ve really enjoyed learning design on the computers – we don’t get to do much fun
stuff on the computers at school.

– Myles, Aged 12

We run our 10-week Maker City course in a number of schools across Bristol after
the school day has finished. We can take up to 15 students in the sessions and work
predominantly with year 6 – 9s. We run the 10 week course at the school and
provide all of the equipment needed, as part of the course there are 3 visits to KWMC: The Factory included.

So far we have run Maker City in:

  • Barton Hill Academy
  • Bridge Learning Campus
  • Parson Street Primary
  • City Academy
  • Greenfield Primary

When: Wednesdays and Thursdays
