SPHERE: high-tech future of healthcare

A pioneering collaborative five-year project, known as SPHERE (Sensor Platform for Healthcare in a Residential Environment), will develop home sensor systems to monitor the health and wellbeing of people living at home.

SPHERE aims to address high obesity rates and support older people, at risk of isolation, depression, strokes and fractures caused by falls, by developing a digital home health assistant, accessible 24 hours a day.

KWMC is working closely with SPHERE partners to involve people in the development of the project through an ongoing process of testing and feedback. When practical, user-friendly technologies have been developed further, they will be piloted in a large number of homes over an extended period.

Public engagement began when the project was presented to the public at the Elizabeth Blackwell Institute Launch, followed by a panel conversation and Q&A with the audience.

Visit the SPHERE website for more information and sign up for more information about becoming a Friend of Sphere.
