The Factory’s making courses and workshops are designed to provide an easy and accessible introduction to our digital fabrication tools and workshop facilities.
We guide and support trainees through each step of the design and making process, whether they’re creating laser cut jewellery, Christmas decorations, pieces of furniture, or something else.
We also offer enterprise training to budding entrepreneurs and growth businesses.
Due to the current Coronavirus and Covid-19 crisis we are currently unable to offer many of our usual workshops accessing equipment and tools in the space. We are working hard to move some of our training content and resources online and develop new skills development opportunities in response to the change in our working practices. Sign up to our Factory e-newsletter to keep up to date with our progress and hear about upcoming opportunities as they arise.
KWMC The Factory are collaborating with Walter Jack Studio on a training programme giving local people an opportunity to be involved in a major public art commission. Participants are learning 2D design skills and developing designs for their own product(s) to be batch laser cut into brass sheet, with the leftover material featuring the negative space of these products forming panels for a large-scale façade on Hengrove Energy Centre, ensuring no section of the material is wasted.
Applications have closed and the programme is currently in progress, but for further information please visit https://kwmc.org.uk/projects/positivenegativepositive/
