The Retreat: Rylie’s Reflection

An overview of some of the activities and workshops held at the FLP retreat.

We went on a retreat to Folly Farm for the Future Legacy Project. During the four days we were there, our groups worked on presentations for our projects, which we would be presenting on the final day.

On Monday, it was very eventful and we achieved a lot for our presentation. We had a workshop where we learnt about ‘IOO’, which means intention, obstacle and outcome. During the workshop, we discussed ‘IOOs’ and how they create and affect an entire story. We also watched a short movie and tried to identify its ‘IOO’.

After the workshop, we worked on our presentation. This is where we discussed what we were going to do for that day. We decided on making a website about our project, merchandise and a short film. It was a great experience making a short film in under a day, especially coming up with the intention, obstacle and outcome we wanted to have.

After filming, a team member began to edit the footage while another started working on the website and merch. I wanted to try and use the 3D printer so I talked with the rest of the group and we discussed what we should make with it. In the beginning, we decided to make the logo for our charity, however, it didn’t quite go as expected so instead we created a little stand for the name of the project.

While participating In FLP I had the opportunity to make a lot of new friends. During the evening, in our free time, some friends and I played board games in our room.

It was very entertaining and we had a lot of fun. This whole experience was amazing and a great opportunity to do something new that let you gain or expand on skills.
