Maker City

We believe that young people should have the chance to access and explore the exciting world of digital making.

Maker City is Jump Studios‘ 10-week programme for makers aged 10 – 15 from across Bristol.  Over 10 weeks, young people can experiment with a range of digital manufacturing technologies, including laser cutting, robotics, vacuum forming, 3D scanning, 3D printing and using a vinyl cutter –  all whilst learning about the product design process and social action campaigning.

After this introduction to different technologies, the young people have the chance to design and make a project of their choice.

Maker City runs in three locations each week. At the end of the programme the three groups come together to share what they’ve made, create a network of young makers and work together in a final making challenge!

This programme is completely free!

Our current locations are:

Our previous locations are:

  • Parson Street primary school
  • City Academy secondary
  • Bridge Learning Campus Secondary school
  • Barton Hill Academy
  • Greenfield Primary

We had our first Maker City graduation on Saturday 15 December 2018 at Filwood Community Centre as part of our festive makers’ market. It was a great time for the young people, parents and teachers to come together, reflect on what they’d learned, and do one more making challenge!
