It’s easy to forget that amidst the social media chatter and cutting-edge apps we can find lots of engaging stories and traditional storytelling techniques. Over 10 weeks in Autumn 2017 Jump Studios explored the world of digital storytelling.
Jump Into…Journalism was a 10 week creative course, giving 14-19 year olds the chance to get to grips with modern journalistic techniques. Working with TEDxBristol (the largest TEDx event in Europe) and The Knowledge, Knowle West’s community magazine, the course covered:
– Writing for print media
– The art of storytelling
– Blogging
– Journalistic photography
– How to interview, with the BBC
– Podcasting
– Radio hosting
– Creating content for social media including videos, vox pops and news clips
Plus, the course included the amazing opportunity to be part of the TEDxBristol team as an official journalist for the day!
After 10 weeks of development, participants graduated as official Jump Journalists.
