Over a four-month period, the group learned technical skills including music-making, fashion photography, stage design, event planning, promotion, branding and recruitment. Together they created a modern retelling of the classic Shakespearean love story of Romeo & Juliet, where rival groups – with very different styles – were united in a visual spectacle.
The catwalk showcased clothing from national retailers and independent boutiques, and there were performances from Bristol-based DJs and dancers. The overall aim of the Fashionate project was to encourage and equip young women to become involved in the creative industries.
