Through our Young People’s Programme we’re keen to create conversations about what makes ‘art’, provide new experiences for young people and support them to develop skills and confidence.
Following our Gaming & Anime Expo in October 2015, a group of young people from KWMC took part in the Krispy Kreme donut design competition, where they devised and illustrated their own designs for a donut.
The winning design, by Harry, was digitised using computer software and Krispy Kreme produced a batch of prototypes for ‘The Harry’. Harry was able to experience a behind-the-scenes tour of Krispy Kreme and see the design and making process first-hand.
Mena Fombo, Young People’s Programme Manager, said: “Food is certainly art: when was the last time you ate something you didn’t like the look of? Harry put so much effort into his design and we’re really pleased he’s been able to see his idea go from design to development to end product.”
