4:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Find out more about how sensor technologies could make a difference in home healthcare – and how you can help to develop them. The SPHERE team are holding a free event in the At-Bristol Science Centre which will include lots of activities to explore how the technology works, followed by a free show at the planetarium!
The event will be suitable for both adults and children and will include free refreshments. Please note that the event will be held in At-Bristol but does not include free entry to the exhibits.
Reserve your free place online.
What is SPHERE?
SPHERE is an exciting research project based at University of Bristol using digital sensing technologies in people’s homes to monitor health and wellbeing. This information could be used to help manage lifestyle-related conditions such as asthma, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. It could also help spot medical issues such as strokes or predict falls.
How does it work?
Small sensors will be placed around the house, they will gather information about the environment – such as air quality, humidity and energy use. Also, activity and image sensors will measure people’s movement around the house. This information will help us to build a picture of how we live and help to support and manage of a range of health conditions.
We would like to involve the Bristol community in creating technologies that are aceptable and useful. We are interested in new ideas of how to use sensors and why people may want to use them.
