You’re invited to join a series of three accessible, enjoyable and creative, hands-on workshops held in person at The Factory Knowle West Media Centre (BS4 1ET) using readily available tools and designed to encourage conversation about identity and ageing. A rich, connected experience, through which participants make a unique ‘Expressive Pocket’ to keep or share. These workshops are for participants aged 55 and over.
What’s involved?
Three free two-hour sessions over a period of approximately 5 weeks, in groups of about 10 people. All additional materials provided. Workshops follow on from each other so ideally you’ll attend all three.
In person: all materials provided in the workshop space, but it will be helpful to be able to use a smart-phone to access photographs.

More about the Connecting Through Culture As We Age research project
These Expressive Pockets workshops were developed as part of the Connecting through Culture As We Age research project, based at the University of Bristol. This project is looking to find out about how and why we take part in arts and culture as we get older. As part of the project, we are trying out different ways of evaluating our participation in arts and culture. We would like to invite you to take part in the workshops and help us understand their impact for you. This will involve you answering some quick questions before the first workshop and after the last.
We’ll give you more information about this when you have registered, but if you’d like to know more before then, please email Senior Research Associate Karen Gray: karen.gray@bristol.ac.uk.
