Join Katie Mack for a masterclass in film editing. Katie Mack is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Film and Television at the University of Bristol. She was Assistant Editor on Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and has taught editing to hundreds of professional film and television makers on University of Bristol’s MA in Film and Television Production.
Katie will be talking to us about her experiences in Hollywood and will give us the inside track on how stories are constructed in film. What’s a cut? A dissolve? Why use a fade to black? What is a montage?
How are space and time manipulated through the editing process to create narratives that move us to tears, keep us on the edge of our seats and have us rolling in the aisles?
Katie Mack’s editing masterclass is a part of the Knowle West TV week at Knowle West Media Centre and will be followed by a panel discussion at 6pm, featuring community media and archive experts, Peter Lewis, Shawn Sobers and Julian Warren.
