6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
For one evening only Knowle West Media Centre will be transformed into a healthy home:
Step into our dining room and enjoy a hearty homecooked meal
Have a seat in our living room and find out more about SPHERE’s sensors for home healthcare
Test the appliance sensors in our pop-up kitchen
SPHERE is an exciting research project based at the University of Bristol, using digital sensing technologies in people’s homes to monitor health and wellbeing.
This second ‘Friends of SPHERE’ event will provide an introduction to the programme and a chance to see how the sensors might work in the context of the home. You’ll have the opportunity to see the sensors in action and give us your views.
A free evening meal will be provided (meat and vegan options available) and the event will be suitable for families, with activities on offer for children.
SPHERE is an exciting research project based at the University of Bristol, using digital sensing technologies in people’s homes to monitor health and wellbeing. The information could be used to help manage lifestyle-related conditions such as asthma, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. It could also help to spot medical issues such as strokes or predict falls.
Small sensors will be placed around the house to gather information about the environment such as air quality, humidity and energy use. Activity and image sensors will measure people’s movement around the house. This information will help us to build a picture of how we live and help tp support and manage a range of health conditions.
