We’re thrilled to announce Joseph Wilk will be working with us at KWMC on our AI Viewpoints Commission with University of Bristol!

About Joseph Wilk

Joseph is an artist and programmer who uses the digital to explore disability and disability to explore the digital. His experience of disability – living with pain, physical limitations, disillusionment and disconnection – strongly impacts his practice. He deconstructs, misuses, and repurposes software and hardware to challenge notions of ownership, narrative, and visibility.

About the Commission

As part of the AI Viewpoints Commission (April-June 2026), Joseph is exploring his award winning role-playing game CripShip.

CripShip is about resisting certain types of AI created by big tech. Inspired by disabled people destroying the systems of power that create and shape AI, the game imagines new worlds built through disabled imagination.

Through collaborative role-play, players learn how to break Large Language Models and uncover their biases and limitations, while building real skills and a deeper understanding of AI ethics and development.

Joseph will be working with University of Bristol’s AI PhD students and KWMC community groups to make the game more accessible.

If you’re interested in testing the game and giving feedback, please get in touch with us: chloe.meineck@kwmc.org.uk

CripShip was originally commissioned as part of Watershed’s More than AI Sandbox, supported by MyWorld and funded through UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) ‘Strength in Places’ fund.

What’s next?

We’ll be updating this blog with Joseph’s work, stay tuned!
