City Dashboard – How’s Bristol Doing?

We’ve been working on a new learning project with Bristol City Council to create a ‘City Dashboard’.

The Dashboard is an online place where citizens can see how well the city is performing and view visual representations of open data gathered across the city’s neighbourhoods, such as health statistics, house prices, crime levels and traffic flow.

We hope that having this useful data at their fingertips will inspire Bristolians to take an active part in their city, from trying something new in their lives to actively seeking to make differences in their area.

A prototype Dashboard has been developed with artist Dane Watkins, which can be adapted to show information about the whole city or specific to a particular neighbourhood. Bristol residents were invited to participate in the development of the prototype, beginning with a workshop in September 2013.

We are now developing at a local level, focusing on community priorities in Knowle West, called the Data Patchwork. Below is the prototype for the city one.
